If You Need a Bit of Help, Please Just Ask

Cupboard being filled with food

getting filled

From time to time, we hear from people who aren’t quite sure if they can come to Whitehead Storehouse for help, or who feel they might not “qualify”.

We just want to say clearly – you don’t need to qualify.

  • There are no forms to fill in.
  • No referrals needed.
  • No conditions to meet.

If things are a bit tight and you need help with food, that’s all that matters.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re working, not working, retired, studying, on benefits or not. You might be on your own, part of a family, younger or older – everyone’s circumstances are different, and sometimes people just need a bit of support to get through a difficult patch.

We usually try to limit help to around three times a year, just so we can be fair to everyone. If it looks like you might need a bit more ongoing support, we’ll always try to point you towards other services that can help with things like budgeting or advice.

If You’ve Tried to Contact Us

We’re aware there have been ongoing issues locally with the O2 phone network, and that can sometimes affect messages getting through.

If you’ve tried to contact us and haven’t heard back within a few hours, please do try again. It may simply be that your message didn’t reach us the first time, and we wouldn’t want anyone to miss out because of that.

How We Work with Others

We stay in regular contact with other local support groups. That just helps make sure people are getting the right kind of help in the right place, and that support across the area is used as wisely as possible.

If another group is better placed to help in your situation, we’ll always do our best to point you in the right direction. It’s all about making sure you get the support you need.

A Final Word

We know it’s not always easy to reach out.

But if you need a bit of help, please just ask.
